Week 2

Goal of week 2:  Research the CN tower and figure out what we Rendering Software that we want simulate it in as well as what materials we want to build it out of.

  • Find what materials it was made out of
  • Find when/by whom it was made
  • Cost of this tower
  • Purpose of this tower
  • Dimensions of this tower

Group members and jobs:
-Renee Pisano         -research and powerpoint creator
-Cody Johnson        -research and powerpoint editor
-Paulina Iniewicz    -research and powerpoint editor
-Carly Alessandro   -research and powerpoint editor

Challenges
Some challenges that we faced were figuring out what Rendering Software we want to use as well as what physical materials that we want to build the 3D structure out of.

Outcome of this week:
  • What is CN Tower - Designed by John Andrews in 1972
  • Purpose - To enhance radio and TV signals that were blocked from the surrounding buildings
  • Materials - Concrete, Steel (Tensioned, Reinforcing, and Structural)
  • Cost - $63 billion
  • Dimensions - 553.33 m tall.
  • For now, we decided to build at least part of the 3D model from a 3D printer; however, that will be extremely time consuming and non efficient
